Voyeurism, Surveillance and the Camera
Voyeurismo, Vigilancia y la Cámara propone un recorrido a través de 250 trabajos, ejecutados por algunos de los mejores fotógrafos de la historia, como Man Ray, Guy Bourdin, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, Lee Miller, Helmut Newton, pero también por aficionados, que exploran imágenes icónicas, cuestiones tabúes relacionadas con el sexo o la violencia y el culto moderno al famoseo.La exposición muestra imágenes como las tomadas en 1930 por Walker Evans para retratar la geografía humana del tren subterráneo de Nueva York sin conocimiento de sus sujetos. Henri Cartier-Bresson Brassaï o Weegee construyeron magníficas imágenes a base de robar momentos íntimos de sus sujetos en lugares públicos. "Para fotografiar a los voyeurs necesitaba convertirme en uno de ellos", sentenció el japonés Kohei Yoshiyuki sobre su célebre serie de imágenes que en 1979 descubría una desconocida faceta nocturna de los parques de Tokio: las parejas retozan a placer mientras un nutrido grupo de mirones se arrastra por el suelo para contemplar el espectáculo en primera fila.Cuando setenta años después Philip-Lorca diCorcia repetía la experiencia en las calles de la misma ciudad, tuvo que afrontar una denuncia en los tribunales. Junto a esos exponentes, la exposición reserva también su espacio a recrearse en imágenes románticas, eróticas o directamente pornográficas que puntean con profusión la singladura de la fotografía.

With photographs from the late nineteenth century to present day, the pictures present a shocking, illuminating and witty perspective on iconic and taboo subjects. Beginning with the idea of the 'unseen photographer', Exposed presents 250 works by celebrated artists and photographers including Brassaï's erotic Secret Paris of the 1930s images; Weegee's iconic photograph of Marilyn Monroe; and Nick Ut's reportage image of children escaping napalm attacks in the Vietnam War. Sex and celebrity is an important part of the exhibition, presenting photographs of Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, Paris Hilton on her way to prison and the assassination of JFK. Other renowned photographers represented in the show include Guy Bourdin, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Philip Lorca DiCorcia, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, Lee Miller, Helmut Newton and Man Ray.
